How Do Red Blooded Lab Owners Get Into Doodles Anyway?

In Mid-summer we escaped the heat and went out to the movies. We had a silver lab in heat that we were resting until 2010. We saw a comedy but came home to a drama: our beautiful, innocent silver girl had opened two doors and was on a date with the black/white furry fellow you see here.

There was an interlude of despair.

On August 30, 2009, she presented us with a surprise: a litter of ten F1 Labradoodles. Although we were horrified that our Momma Dog had bred herself to our poodle, we soon fell in love. Labradoodles are the most easy-going, beautiful, easy-to-train animals on the planet.

Labradoodles have proven to be quite magical to this cynic. Great, laid-back personalities, calm dispositions, wonderful long hair in all the pups. Most importantly, they eat only 1/2 of what a Lab the same size consumes.

Labradoodles are also a good idea because they have few health issues because they are a hybrid cross between two very intelligent and hardy breeds. (They were President Obama's second choice for a "First Dog.") Our litter sheds less than Labradors.
